Mental health and healthcare professionals play a critical role in supporting patients and families during hospice care and end-of-life. This training will explore the responsibility of the professional in understanding various ethical standards and how they relate to end-of-life (EOL) care. Ethical considerations and their impacts are discussed, as well as identification of when decision-making ability may be compromised. Cultural considerations and recommendations to enhance cultural competence will be detailed. Case vignettes and video clips will encourage critical thinking and explore the nuanced factors present in in EOL care. The goal of this course is to provide any helpig professional hospice with knowledge of ethics related to EOL care. This course is appropriate for social workers, counselors, therapists, physicians, nurses, clergy, and any other professionals that serve people at end of life.
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Amedco LLC and CE You! Amedco LLC is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
