Description
The talk will cover working with Questioning/LGBTQIA+ teens and adults who reside in religious communities. The current available data on occurrence rates in the various community will be reviewed. Case studies will be discussed as they relate to queer/queer questioning teens and adults and how this population grapples with their religiosity and its intersection with their queer identity. The intersection between maintaining internal congruence as it relates to gender and religiosity will be explored.

- The participants will be able to understand the conflict between religiosity and queerness/queer questioning individuals
- The participants will be able to help their own clients navigate the complexity of queerness/queer questioning as it relatets to religiosity
Agenda:
5 minutes- introduction
10 min- and Introduction to terms related to the LGBTQIA+ Community
20 min- Islam, Christianity and Judaism viewpoints on the LGBTQIA+ community
2 hrs- Dr. Wallach's case studies on religious patients that she has seen/is seeing and the conflicts that arise
30 min- exploring how to create community for LGBTQIA+ individuals within established Religious communities
