When parents have a child who has some special educational, emotional and/or medical needs, it can create insurmountable demands on the parents' life. All these demands come in addition to the parents' already existing responsibilities. The parent most likely does not have the education or training to maneuver in this uncharted territory. The clinicians and other social service providers can help their client (the child) most effectively by assisting the parents learn how to field this new world in the most effective way possible. In this webinar the complexities of raising a special needs child and how to best assist the most important members of the interdisciplinary team (THE PARENTS) will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:
- Participants will learn about the general job description of a case manager
- Participants will learn the most common road blocks parents face while trying to accomplish these tasks through the use of effective communication
- The tools of mindful parenting in the present as well as the dichotomy of the parents conflicting thoughts and emotions will be discussed.

- Advanced practitioners seeking to review concepts and reinforce practice skills and/or access additional consultation
- Managers seeking to broaden micro and/or macro perspectives
